Fun Fridays

I used to belong to a personal training small group with a great bunch of girls and a fabulous trainer!  I loved working out with them and my body definitely became slimmer and stronger.  The only reason I stopped going was schedule changes (both mine and my trainers) and the fact that personal training is just expensive.  But our trainer always did a “Fun Friday” workout.  Fun really didn’t mean fun in the normal sense of the word.  It was “fun” in quotation marks.  Meaning the workout was super hard because she knew we had the whole weekend to recover before we had to work out with her again.  Yeah.  “Fun.”

But I want my Fun Friday posts to be truly fun, not quotation mark fun.  So here’s a few things that brought me joy this week.

Baking

I love to bake!  It just brings me joy for some unknown reason.  My husband always says he loves to watch me bake because I look so peaceful.  This week, I did some fun baking.  Here are a few recipes that are yum, yum, yum!

Blueberry and Oatmeal Muffins – not only are these muffins healthy, but they are tasty as well.  My hubby ate two this morning (and he normally skips breakfast).

Cake Batter Chocolate Chip Cookies – my husband and I share a passion for chocolate chip cookies and I’ve been searching for the perfect recipe ever since I found Pinterest.  These are fabulous cookies!  While they are not the normal pure chocolate chip cookie, they are darn tasty.  The husband, who ate 6 of these in the span of an hour, called them a perfect mixture of a chocolate chip cookie and a cake ball.  I agree.

Banana Oatmeal Cookies with Chocolate Chips – I had a few overripe bananas sitting around so I decided to make these cookies with them.  My husband loves bananas, but hates banana flavored baked goods, so these were all mine.  And I ate every single one of them (just kept them in the fridge).  I’m kind of hoping my bananas get overripe soon so I can make these again.

New Television Season!

I love the silly sitcoms, and with the return of How I Met Your Mother, The Middle, Modern Family and The Big Bang Theory this week, I’m in silly sitcom heaven.  I will miss Whose Line Is It Anyway? though.  I hope they renew that show – I loved it way back when it was on the Comedy Channel and I love it now.  Silliness is a great way to spend the evening.

Acting Like a Kid

Speaking of silliness, I have an inner child who loves to come out every now and then.  And since my husband is just a big kid (like most men), when my inner child comes out we have tons of fun!  The other night I was frustrated with a difficult client and needed a distraction.  So the husband pulled out all of our toys.  (Yes, we have toys.)  Small Nerf dart guns, “soft” balls (not softballs), and water guns are just part of our collection.  We basically grab anything that catches our eye at the $1 section of Target.  Last night we had a Nerf gun fight – complete with hiding behind chairs and couches, for a good 30 minutes.  It completely made me forget my worries of the day, we both spent at least 25 minutes of the time laughing, and bonus – it’s actually good exercise.  I think acting like a kid is good for the soul.

So I hope you all have a Fun Friday and a great weekend!  Enjoy some baking, TV and play time!
